After I noticed that I was apparently a new breed of individual, the angry liberal, I started this Website for others like myself. I must admit that if a few hypocritical conservative Christians take it as a slap in the face, so much the better. If God really existed, he would smite thee. In defining myself as a liberal, however, I do not mean to suggest that I have much in common with most liberals. I am gleeful about the purges of stupid and/or dishonest people from the ranks of the left, like Dan Rather and hopefully Michael Moore. My liberalism is more like the classic liberalism, which is more like libertarianism. Why am I not a libertarian, then? Because I am not insane, that's why!

This all started when the Republican Party ostensibly "defeated" the Democrats during the last "election." But it did not defeat the Democrats; it defeated democracy. The so-called election was rigged with unverifiable voting machines manufactured by Bush supporters, and the so-called liberal media treated this as a footnote. There is plenty of evidence to prove this claim, but, even if we assume that all of it is false, we still have unverifiable electronic voting machines. If we cannot trust our elections, our "democracy" has no legitimacy, and nobody, Democrat or Republican, is my president if he was elected in an election with no credibility. Pay attention, Republicans, because if they stole my vote this time, they can steal yours next time. Maybe I should use Fox's tactics and scream that at you Republicans, since screaming is all you seem to tune in on. THE REASON WE ALL MUST REJECT THIS ELECTION IS THAT WE ALL BENEFIT FROM DEMOCRACY. Regardless of what your pastor tells you, it was not some imaginary supreme being who made the USA great, it was the people who created and then defended democracy against all enemies both foreign and domestic. The biggest threat to democracy right now is rigged elections. What are you doing to fight the biggest threat to American democracy, you fine American? "Gee, Unreality Check, I'm killing people on the other side of the world."

Stop taking the news seriously. If Dan Rather can't tell an MS Word document from a Vietnam era document and if Rupert Murdoch calls Fox News "fair and balanced," friends, there is no hope for mainstream media. I am serious. Don't watch the news anymore without talking back to it. The way they let the passing of Democracy slip by is only the worst example of the way these trusting, sheltered, insulated kids from the ivy leagues have botched their responsibilities. Right now, they are simply a reactive body, waiting around for politicians to set the agenda and define what the news is. The spin doctors have them completely mezmerized.

Don't get me wrong, though. The truth still makes it into the news. It's a question of emphasis. For instance, fluff gets the most coverage. Important things get a few sentences, and maybe not even a picture over the anchor's shoulder. The funniest example I can remember is when the Raelians cult announced that they had cloned a human being. Let me preface this by saying that I knew it was bull as soon as I saw the woman who announced it in that cheesy conference room in south Florida. If you understand publicity, you will immediately realize what made every major news outlet, including NPR, bite on this obviously bullshit story. If your favorite local band plays at a club, that is not news. If Marilyn Manson jams with your favorite local band at a club, now that's news. Novel combinations attract newsmen, and they end up like bees lying on their backs on the bottom of a jar of honey. The Raelians cloning story combined not one compelling factor but three: aliens, cults, and cloning. Brilliant viral marketing by the Raelians. For the price of renting a tacky conference room, they got worldwide advertising for their cult. Everyone bit on it, and even though it was discredited later, anyone who is disposed to join a cult will of course assume that the discreditation was a conspiracy. After it became obvious that this ridiculous nonsense was ridiculous nonsense, I had to listen to NPR spin their complicity with a really funny "Well, it wasn't true this time, but maybe it's time for a serious national debate on cloning" sort of approach. Then I had to listen to various experts talk about cloning for days.

NO! IT IS NOT TIME FOR A SERIOUS NATIONAL DEBATE ON CLONING YOU ASSHOLES! JUST BECAUSE SOME PSYCHOTIC FRENCH BIMBO RENTS A CONFERENCE ROOM AND CALLS THE PRESS DOES NOT MEAN IT IS TIME FOR A SERIOUS NATIONAL DEBATE ON CLONING! IT IS TIME FOR A NATIONAL DEBATE ON 2/3S OF OUR FUCKING FISHERIES BEING CONTAMINATED WITH MERCURY! IT IS TIME FOR A SERIOUS DEBATE ON OUR PRESIDENT AND HIS RELATIVES STEALING THE LAST ELECTION! YOU ASSHOLES PAID NO ATTENTION LAST TIME, IT HAPPENED AGAIN, AND OUR COUNTRY'S FATE IS NOW IN THE HANDS OF PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE THAT WWF WRESTLING IS A REAL SPORT, THAT CRIMINALS LIKE OLLIE NORTH AND G. GORDON LIDDY ARE HEROES, AND THAT THE PRINCE OF PEACE WANTS US TO BOMB RAG HEADS!

Whew, there's that anger coming out. Told ya. Feels kind of good to let it out, though. Is this what Republicans feel? I could get used to this. Welcome to Unreality Check, unless you are a Republican fundamentalist. If you are, you are merely tolerated. I am not Christian, so I don't have to like your insane asses.
